Photo 5 – College of the Rockies

This photo was taken in the parking lot of the College of the Rockies, where my dad works as a professor in the business program.

I made my way to the college today, to get a haircut, of all things. The college has a program that trains students to be hairdressers and barbers. It’s a 10-month long program that runs from September to June, and apparently, is incredibly popular to the point where the waiting list to get into the program is 3 years long.

From September to November, students are in the classroom learning theory and techniques behind cutting and styling hair. From December onwards, they get practical training in the classroom-turned-salon, working on actual customers that walk through the door, charging $10 a haircut. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
