An incredible first day at the TEDxSummit in Doha. Caught up with a lot of people that I had met at TEDActive in California a couple of months ago, met Reggie Watts and Hans Rosling as well. Excited for what this week has in store!
20 hours to Doha! Getting really excited for the #TEDxSummit in Doha!
Spent most of the day running around doing errands, going to the bank to exchange money for my upcoming trip to Doha, dropping off a parking ticket at the bylaw office, and getting some work done on our product website at Starbucks. Then went and hung out with Aditya, Kevin and some friends for a [...]
Beginning to really appreciate the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship culture that exists in Waterloo Region. Coming back to this community, planting some roots, starting a company and continuing to build on the success of TEDxWaterloo, was certainly one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made.
It’s finally beginning to dawn on me how big of a deal the TEDxSummit in Doha is going to be. Sunday evening, I’ll be back to the part of the world where I grew up, surrounded by people who are just as passionate as me when it comes to community building and, dare I say, [...]
Spotted in Hespeler, Cambridge earlier this morning when I met up with Wendy for coffee to discuss old books, vinyl records and downtown business and community revitalization.
Reunion in Toronto with an old childhood friend. Hamza and I used to cause a lot of trouble back in Al Ain, UAE, up until we were 11 when his family moved to the UK for good. That was 16 years ago. Time flies!
Taken at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Waterloo.
Grabbed dinner and drinks with a friend at Jane Bond. Had the black bean and avocado quesadilla along with chocolate flavored beer. Yes, you read that right… chocolate beer. Yum.
Good Friday dinner with one of my really good friends, Chelsea. On the menu: Atlantic salmon; kale salad with blue cheese, pears, bell pepper; and red wine. And of course, pecan pie for dessert. Jesus himself would be proud
Working away on our product website. Currently in getting things done production mode! In between, had a lovely lunch with Cevie today followed by a great Skype conversation with Aaron, a serial entrepreneur from NYC whom I met at TEDActive, and who gave me a lot of great advice on building my company. Thanks!
Spent the morning with the FFP students from Galt Collegiate in Cambridge discussing TEDxWaterloo, City 2.0 and ideas to engage young people in their communities a lot more! Thanks for having me!
Thank for the gelato and the company on a warm-ish sunny day Kayleigh! This makes me miss the gelato in Köszeg, can’t wait to go back!
Overwhelmed by all the messages, texts, emails and phone calls for my birthday today, THANK YOU ALL! Feeling the love from friends and family all around the world, I feel so blessed! Another year older, not sure if Im any wiser, haha… Here is to another amazing year of chasing big dreams and making them happen, [...]
Spent most of the afternoon in Coffee Culture in Uptown Waterloo. Had an amazing conversation with an old friend that I hadn’t seen in a while, and made a new friend in the process as well. I love lazy Sunday afternoons getting ‘work’ done.
Where I spent most of my afternoon… hanging out at my new ‘workspace’ sipping on a Kentucky Cowboy, one part Americano, another part Collingwood maple whiskey. I found this gorgeous whiskey and coffee shop (yes, you read that right) in Uptown Waterloo called Death Valley’s Little Brother. I love the atmosphere and the way the [...]
